It's my personal philosophy that the idea of the gig has become rather outdated. The world is evolving constantly and yet many artists seem to expect for a live performance to remain timeless. Why should we play $100 to aging rock stars or pop divas for the same old show? Why should we be paying egomaniacs looking for you to faint and pile bills at their feet just for climbing the stage?

When I work to plan a show, I think of it as exactly that; a show! If you were to go see a movie, would you want to see the same film every time, just with different actors? Would you want to go see the same art exhibition, just in different locations? Then why do we seem to expect this from our local gigs?

Here at St. George's Hill, it is our personal goal to create an experience that you will be excited to see. Gathering bands in new ways, having audience participate in the experience, and eventually gathering together many different disciplines of art into the same show. It's our stage to do with what we will, why not use it?

Here are some ideas that we are considering for the future:

-percussion shows (various instruments (tambourines, bongos, kazoos, shakers ect.) are strewn across the venue for the audience to play along with their favorite local bands)
-potlucks (bring food to share as admission to a great show)
-russian mixtapes (six bands set up at the same time and who plays each song is determined by a lottery)
-reverse striptease (one of the sillier ideas, the band starts the show in their underwear and after each song puts on an article of clothing)
-obscure cover song shows (bands challenge the audience to identify the songs they perform, giving prizes to whoever can)

and these are just the beginning.
